Planning and housing focus for 2014 AGM

The 2014 AGM has been set for Tuesday 7th October at Diseworth Heritage Centre, Lady Gate, Diseworth, DE74 2QF, 6.45 for 7 pm start.  The theme of the evening is Planning and Housing.

As last year, we are combining the AGM with a social event.  After dealing with the AGM business, we will be enjoying a buffet supper with tempting refreshments from a local company and engaging with two really interesting speakers, who have expert knowledge.

CPRE nationally and locally is concerned about changes in the planning system. Our first  speaker, Neil Sinden, Director of Policy and Campaigns at CPRE National Office will bring us up to speed on current CPRE thinking on high profile planning policy issues and their impact on the countyryside. He is a national lead on these issues and is regularly quoted in the national press.

Our second speaker, Richard Mugglestone, will focus on rural affordable housing in Leicestershire. As Project Delivery Manager at Midlands Rural Housing, which is the key player in this field, he is well placed to bring us news of the work of Leicestershire Rural Housing Association how affordable housing will be delivered in the future.

The Heritage Centre (see photo) is an interesting building which is a converted Baptist chapel. It was opened as a meeting venue and computer learning facility in 2009 with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund and the great hard work of a small band of volunteers.
