Event: How can Neighbourhood Planning protect our countryside?

Saturday, 18 April 2015 09:41

Countesthorpe Village Hall Countesthorpe Village Hall

CPRE Leicestershire is hosting an event on Neighbourhood Planning at Countesthorpe Village Hall on Saturday 20th June from 10:30am to 4pm.

Neighbourhood Development Plans (NDPs) may be the only way to protect our parishes from inappropriate development and could be the sole way in which communities can have an influence over the type and design of developments that are needed. Indeed, areas without an NDP are increasingly at the mercy of developers

CPRE Leicestershire wish to promote NDPs to our parishes and towns so that our wonderful county can be enjoyed and valued for generations to come for the contribution it makes to our physical and mental well-being.

Key speakers will be:
Mick Duggan, Department for Communities and Local Government
Gary Kirk, YourLocale
Matt Bills, Harborough District Council
Matt Thompson, CPRE National Office

This event will explore:

  • What is neighbourhood planning?
  • What can it do for your community?
  • What is the role of planning authorities?

Workshops will examine topics including:

  • The benefits for your community;
  • What is CPRE’s role?  How can we help?
  • Neighbourhood planning: impact on the parish clerk;
  • Our experience of Neighbourhood planning - successes, issues and bottlenecks.

Come along to learn about Neighbourhood Planning and share your experiences or learn more about it.

Lunch will be provided and it is hoped that new councillors from all levels, parish clerks, and members who wish to be updated on this important matter will attend.

Tickets: £15
