Government changes to the way housing requirements are calculated will impact adversely on the Leicestershire countryside, says CPRE Leicestershire.

CPRE Leicestershire has written general election candidates standing in Leicester and Leicestershire constituencies to raise local concerns and to ask for support for CPRE’s national manifesto, ‘Our countryside: a manifesto for the next government’.

CPRE Leicestershire have submitted a robust and detailed critique of the Plan in its response this consultation which closed on 10th May.

CPRE Leicestershire hosted a successful and informative meeting on the Plan for CPRE members and Parish Council representatives at Great Glen Village Hall on 20th February 2018.

Leicestershire Plan threatens Countryside

CPRE Leicestershire is urging residents and organisations across Leicestershire to respond to the consultation on the Strategic Growth Plan which could change the character of parts of Leicestershire for generations to come.


Councillors from Harborough District Council have approved plans for the huge expansion of Magna Park in Leicestershire, despite last-minute protests from locals opposed to the plans.

As readers of the Leicester Mercury will be aware, the future of Leicestershire up until 2050 is being planned by the city and other local authorities.
