The Trustees again decided that the Branch AGM should again be held virtually via Zoom. This decision was taken to keep members safe and to avoid unnecessary travel to a venue.

The AGM was held on Monday 27 November 2023 with the Trustees and 16 members in attendance together with the CEO for CPRE Roger Mortlock.  The meeting covered all the Branch activities during the year including the hedgerow project, Charnwood and Leicester Local Plans as well as the work the Branch had been undertaking on the Hinckley Rail Freight Interchange.

At the AGM 2 long serving Trustees also had to step down as they had reached the end of their tenure after 6 years.  Tony Stott, who had been the Branch Chair/Trustee, and Tony Simpson, who had been the Honorary Treasurer/Trustee.  Both Tony’s will be greatly missed and the Branch offered their thanks for all the hard work and involvement they had both undertaken in the Branch during their term of engagement.

Roger Mortlock, the CEO of National CPRE gave a comprehensive overview of the refocus of CPRE on its road to its centenary.  This included the future of the countryside, countryside next door and building the movement.
